Extended deadline for STS Marketing College scholarship: April 24 The Georgia Department of Economic Development and Miles, Interactive Agency of Record for the GDEcD, will offer a full scholarship to the Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College to a tourism marketing professional working in the state of Georgia. Scholarship applications are available online. Extended deadline: April 24, 2014. 2. Update information about your hotels for the 2015 Georgia Travel Guide by May 9 Work has begun to compile data for the 2015 Georgia Travel Guide. Information for the guide comes from http://exploregeorgia.org. By May 9, 2014, confirm that your hotel, B&B, campground or other lodging information is up to date on http://partner.exploregeorgia.org so you can be considered for next year's guide. 3. Fox Theatre Institute Preservation Grant applications due May 30 The Fox Theatre Institute Preservation Grant Program is designed to encourage the preservation of historic theatres by providing grant funds for the maintenance, physical improvement and preservation of theatres throughout the region. Grant requests may not exceed $30,000. Grant applications are available online. Deadline: May 30, 2014. 4. Explore Georgia tests fan knowledge with new IQ application How well do your fans and friends know Georgia? Share the Explore Georgia Facebook quiz on social media and encourage your fans to take the IQ test and enter to win a trip to Georgia! 5. Sherry Gromoshak: Kudos for a job well done! Surprises of all kinds happen every day at visitor information centers, but last month Sherry Gromoshak, an information specialist at the Savannah/Port Wentworth Visitor Information Center, received a very special surprise. Tourism Outreach Director Beda Johnson dropped by the VIC with a personal letter from Gov. Nathan Deal thanking Sherry for her outstanding customer service.
