Andersonville Historic Fair
In the Civil War town of Andersonville, history comes alive the first weekend in October at the Andersonville Historic Fair. Learn as old-time craft makers such as chair-caners, quilters, gunsmiths, blacksmiths, and weavers demonstrate their skills. The Andersonville National Historic Civil War Prison is located adjacent to the village.

Allatoona Pass Battlefield The beautifully preserved battlefield at historic Allatoona Pass will be commemorating its 147th year with a reenactment on October 1-2. Tour the historic railroad cut near Red Top Mountain State Park. Walk the trails, visit the star fort and western redoubt earthworks at the site of one of the fiercest fights of the war.

Great Locomotive Chase Festival Adairsville, located at the center of the Civil War's famous Great Locomotive Chase of 1862, rings in the fall with the Great Locomotive Chase Festival. Enjoy arts and crafts, historical exhibits, concerts, carnival rides and 40 food booths presented in this quaint historic railroad town.

Susan King Taylor The importance of Susan King Taylor can't be underestimated. Her outstanding memoir My Life in Camp with the 33d United States Colored Troops is a classic of its genre as well as the only memoir of an African American woman's wartime experiences in Georgia and the South.
