The statement outlines actions institutions can take to mitigate the risks posed by such attacks and respond if necessary. For instance, institutions may conduct ongoing cybersecurity risk assessments and monitoring of controls and information systems. Institutions should also have business continuity plans to ensure resiliency of operations if they are victims of a cyber attack involving extortion. Institutions are also encouraged to notify their primary regulator if attacked.
