Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 9 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 3 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending October 23, 2010 was 24.6 million, down 13 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 30.7 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, up 2 percent from the previous week and up 3 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 25.5 million, down 6 percent from the previous week, but up 12 percent from the comparable week a year earlier.
