Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA DOWN 11 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 7 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending March 7, 2009 was 26.4 million, up slightly from the previous week, but down 11 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 32.6 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 1 percent from the previous week and down 7 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 26.8 million, down slightly from the previous week and down 7 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 82 percent.
