Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA DOWN 1 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 3 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending May 24, 2008 was 29.1 million, up 4 percent from the previous week, but down 1 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 34.5 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 1 percent from the previous week and down 3 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 28.8 million, up 3 percent from the previous week, but down 1 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 83 percent.
