Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 4 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 2 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending March 22, 2008 was 29.7 million, up 1 percent from the previous week and up 4 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 34.4 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 2 percent from the previous week and down 2 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 28.7 million, down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 1 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 82 percent.
