Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA DOWN SLIGHTLY BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 10 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending October 18, 2008 was 26.4 million, up 1 percent from the previous week, but down slightly from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 29.5 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 4 percent from the previous week and down 10 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 26.9 million, up 4 percent from the previous week and up 1 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 84 percent.
