Kleweno nass-ga@nass.usda.gov BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA DOWN 8 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 11 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending October 11, 2008 was 26.0 million, up slightly from the previous week, but down 8 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 30.7 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, up 3 percent from the previous week, but down 11 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 25.8 million, up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 7 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 83 percent.
