An estimated 30, 150,000 broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries--1 percent more than the previous week and 3 percent more than the comparable week a year earlier. Placement of broiler chicks in the 15 reporting States totaled 140,072,000--2 percent more than the previous week and 1 percent more than the comparable week last year. Broiler type hatching eggs set were 175,445,000--slightly less than the previous week but 1 percent more than the corresponding week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched during the week was 82 percent. Average hatchability is calculated by dividing chicks hatched during the week by eggs set three weeks earlier.
