Facebook Twitter YouTube Flickr Email Weeks Honey Farm Week Farm Passionate About Producing Honey The Weeks family, operators of Weeks Honey Farm in Omega, Georgia, is passionate about producing Georgia grown honey. This family owned business is operated by Sharon Weeks Crosby and her son and daughter in law, Ray and Sonja Crosby. A fourth generation operation, the farm has grown from a two hive beekeeping hobby to a 5,000 hive business over the past 52 years. F.G. Weeks and his wife Margaret Weeks founded Weeks Honey Farm in 1960, and the company has since developed into a thriving business with product in over 200 retail locations and a retail store and shop located on site in Omega, Georgia. Weeks joined Georgia Grown to support the state's agribusinesses and agriculture in general. "We were already Georgia Grown; that has always been our mentality. We joined Georgia Grown was to support other Georgia vendors. I like the program and I have seen it benefit other agribusinesses in our area," said Ray Crosby, the company's vice president. "We hope to become more involved and network with other Georgia Grown members throughout the state," he added. "Through our membership and involvement with the Georgia Grown program, I hope that others will realize the important role that bees play in our food industry and have a better understanding of the nutritional benefits of honey," Crosby said. "God has really blessed us, and we pray that others see Him in the way that we serve our customers." Crosby said that he hopes that people can appreciate, just as they do in other agricultural products, tha there are many people that are passionate about making a quality, Georgia-grown product. "For us, it is about making sure that we are good stewards of the bees so that they can in return help farmers produce the food that you and I will eat," said Crosby. Statistically, bees are responsible for pollinating 33 percent of our food. The easiest comparison is to imagine losing one out of every three mouthfuls without bees. "Bees are vital for our food industry and especially our produce industry. It is our hope that through Georgia grown we can begin to bridge that gap between producer and consumer and educate the public on the nutritional value of our product,"Crosby said. Weeks Honey Farm proudly offers a line of pure, raw honey that is strained instead of filtered. Their products can be found at their retail shop in Omega, Whole Foods, and several other locations throughout Georgia and the surrounding states. Weeks Honey Farm works with a network of local Georgia beekeepers to maintain pure honey and other products in their retail shop year round. Their retail shop hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. For directions and more information on Weeks Honey Farm please visit www.weekshoneyfarm.com or www.georgiagrown.com.
