Horses The Georgia Department of Agnculture has Impounded SIX horses In GWlnnett County due to the owners failure to provide adequate food and humane care Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin announced last week The horses were Impounded from Jerry Cantrell James Cantrell and Stanford Sadler of 550 North GWlnnett Street Buford The horses ranged In age from two months to 15 years We took action under the authority of the Humane Care for Equines Act The Impounded horses will remain In the Department s care until they are nursed back to health The owners will be called In for a settlement conference with the Department to address the violations said Commissioner Irvin Our horse rescue program IS very successful said Irvin We are currently nursing 42 Impounded horses back to health Yearly we receive more than 1 000 complaints about possibly abused horses If anyone has any concerns about a horse they have seen they can contact our Equine Health Section at 4046563713 See that uses less water I was thmkmg about Eltoro ZoysIa But because thiS IS a relatively new grass to Georgia I wonder If there are any compansons available that would compare the varIOUS Georgia grasses agamst each other Our warm season grasses (Bermuda, Zoysia, etc) are qUite different ID fertilization requirements and shade and drought tolerance than cool season grasses such as fescue Bermuda and Zoysia are both good grasses However, Bermuda IS somewhat more drought tolerant WIth the abdlty to go up to three weeks between Imgabon The hybnd Bermudas are sterne and must be either establIShed by sod or spnggmg Bermuda IS aggressive and may mvade flower beds, so care and edgmg may be reqwred I have recently bUilt a coop and I have three chickens that I have had smce Easter I
