Governor ]oe Frank Harris has taken a special interest in this project giving the Authority flexibility and broader scope, including such areas as sewer and water treatment plants. Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin, by virtue of his office, was made head of the, Rural Rehabilitation Committee of the GDA to continue the loan services and assistance programs for Georgia farmers. Byron Kirkland, who has served as President and General Manager of the Authority for a number of years, will continue his role with the GDA. Pulse of Georgia's Agriculture It has been said that to succeed in the future, we must look to the past. For- tunately, the state's farmers and agribusinessmen can rely on the Georgia Crop Reporting Service for accurate agricultural data from the past, as well as estimates for the future. The Georgia Crop Reporting Ser- vice provides Georgia agriculture with a current data base that has been maintained since the early |||;^^ 1900's. The purpose of the service is to provide an unbiased evaluation of statistics regarding Georgia agriculture. (Continued on Page 12) liftmfc JlsPiP^ r^SSlf Location D DC crKal U nilLl L1 fi**uf\. J.
