BRADLEY Georgia State Administrative Officer Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee It is plain that the Agricultural Con- - servation job must be done for America to meet its future needs. Conservation can be done only by the people who control the land, the American Farmers. Agricultural resources are vitally im- portant to this country since of every dol- lars worth of raw materials used,70 cents comes from cropland, grazing land and forests. Conservation of cropland, graz- ing land and forests is, therefore, of direct concern to every citizen. The national ACP appropriation for 1957 was 250 million dollars. Farmers in Georgia earned gross cost-share payments _ of $7,580,170 by carrying out approved conservation practices. This money was earned by 37,298 farmers who established conservation practices on 4,535,730 acres of cropland. High- er cost-share rates were established on such practices as permanent cover, plant- ing trees, livestock dams, and woodland improvement.
