NUMBER 44 - NOTICE Start Testing Seed, Grain For Purity Germination Now Georgia farmers who expect to sell grain and clover seed this fall should take steps now to get purity and germination tests on this seed. If farmers wait until the latier part of the summer or early fall there might be a delay in testing because of the work load in the laboratory. Farmers desiring to get grain and clover seed tested in the State Seed Laboratory should send in approxi- mately two pounds of grain or one- half pound of clover after it has been cleaned, ioe The seed, which is tested free of charge for farmers, should be sent to the State Seed Laboratory, State De- | -pariment Of Agriculiture,.19.Hunter | Street, S. ORT COURSES ARE HELPFUL problems, beef cattle and broiler produc- tion. 8 It is interesting to note that in addition to the thousands of Georgia farmers who attend these meetings each year, farmers representing 32 states other than Georgia and seven. foreign countries have taken advantage of our short courses during the - past several years. At Tifton alone, 57,701 people have attended short courses since they began in 1940. | Agricultural officials, research specia- lists and scientists are constantly working to discover ways in which the farmer can improve his crop, make his work easier, and better his income. The results of this work are presented at the agricultural short courses. Even though it is often difficult for the farmer to be away from the farm, these courses are very beneficial, and when at all possible the Georgia farmer would do well to avail himself of the worthwhile in- formation passed on at these meetings. Announcements of Short courses are printed regularly in the Agricultural Cal- endar of the Market Bulletin.
