(621 students) and seven by men (1,170 students). The ma- chines were also used during summer _ school and for University conferences. | Machines cost about $350 each. - COFFEE MILK ADDED During the first two years the machines dispensed plain milk and chocolate milk, but in November, 1953, coffee milk was added. _ This year, with tares types of milk in - the machines, girls used 43 per cent plain, 35 per cent chocolate, and 23 per cent coffee milk. (All percentage figures ap- proximates). The boys used 30 per cent plain, 44 chocolate, and 26 coffee milk. Consumption per student per day last year was 0.27 of a bottle, or about one half-pint bottle every four days for each student. The girls averaged using 0.41 of a bottle last year and 0.46 of a bottle this year. The boys used 0.22 of a bottle both years. The greater consumption by _ the girls is explained in that girls in two | of the dorms do some cooking and here consumption was 0.80 and 0. oF of a bottle per Oey in a donmitony where all girls, as freshmen, are required to eat in the Uni- est en- University Aari. Alumni To Meet In Athens, Oct. M | Plans are aes to hold the first annual meeting of the University of Geor- gia College of Agriculture Alumni ASSO= me ciation in Athens, Oct. 21. OWE A Maddox, Jr., Atlanta, associa- tion president, said that some 125 county. chapters of the Ag College Alumni Asso- ciation have been organized and eack chapter is eligible to send a delegate to the meeting. More than 1,300 former a College students are members. Maddox said that a Board of Director . meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p, m. at the Georgian Hotel, and a banquet will be held at 6:30 p. m. at the same place. New -officers and directors for the next year are to be selected. Other Association officers are W. Tap Bennett, Savannah, vice president, and Asa Bennett, Washington, | dreasurer.. & __ Members of the Board of Directors are: M. P. Martin, Stilson; John Spooner, Donalsonville; T. H. PAPER BOTTLES University milk machines use a cone paper bottle with a cover cap at a cost of about 2.15 cents per bottle. Deprecia- tion and repairs to date have been about one-half cent per unit or half-pint, leav- ing 7.35 cents for servicing the machines and for the milk. Most of the time since we installed the machines cost of milk _ per half-pint has been 6.5 cents. Cost of bottle, plus machine depreciation and repairs, plus cost of milk, adds up to 9.15, which, when subtracted from the sale price of 10 cents leaves a profit of a little less than a penny a bottle, (0.85).
