We feel that this will also help us to

regulate and control traffic on Busy mark-

We mse do a better job of producing
and marketing quality foodstuffs if we
ever-expect produce production to become
a profitable industry for the farmer. The
job starts with the farmer who plants
the crop but it doesnt necessarily end
there. The farmer must try to market a
quality product that the buyers will want.

Only quality sells in todays highly
competitive markets. The sooner we all
realize this the sooner we will reach

-the point where produce production will

constitute one of our maior agricultural

endeavors.

, Bad News For Insects : ;

ae Fumigation of stored grain is one way

to make sure insects dont destroy it or

-_make it unfit for human use. However,
Agricultural Extension Service entomolo-

gists warn that this process does not pro-
tect the grain from becoming infested

again. Stored grain should be inspected
often to see if and when additional fumi- -

_ gations are necessary.

ES STATE EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI

_ To be fumigated properly corn should
be shucked or shelled before it is stored.

Savannah Area Dairy

Council Is Organized

Milk industry leaders in the Savan- -
nah area have organized a Dairy Coun-

_ cil unit fashioned after the National Dairy

Council. The new organization of pro-

_ducers and distributors is designed to

further nutritional: research, sales pro-
motion and public relations in the area.

_ J. H. Dyer of the Borden Co., is presi-
dent of the new Council while E. M.
Thorne, a producer from Millen, is serv-
ing as vice president and E. R. McClellan
of Foremost Dairies is the secretary-
treasurer.

The board of directors elected by the
producers who supply milk to the Sav-
annah market includes E. M. Thorne, J.
W. Pierce, W. A. Law, L. C. Harrell,
J. H. Dyer, E. R. McClellan, R, L. Thomp-
son, E. C. Bull and_ , N. Roberds.

Tax Guide For Farmers,

The Internal Revenue Service says Georgia
farmers can get a lot of help from this new tax
guide intended to ease their work in preparing
income tax returns. It is the. first guide of its
kind designed to help farmers in preparing self
employment or Social Sercuity tax records. Other
problems are also treated in copy and _ pictorial
detail. Copies may be obtained from district in-
ternal revenue offices or from county farm agents.
