Pond: Agiemnational Bon rial, vant every reader of the Market ~ sold to the. American public attractive ideal of a world gov- oO promote peace on earth. At ance this seems a sensible, simple or developing backward regions, Zz their standards of living and cre- n international democracy. But of us who have lived, worked led in foreign countries and w the tremendous differences in tionary development and civiliza- various peoples, the impossibility mediately lifting less civilized ind nations to a common level ea h will meet its responsibilities r. As in the case of social equaliza- .chemes in the Unied States, the ntelligent, capable and prosper- . burdened to aid those on the evels, thus seriously crippling in the upper scale of evolution. result is to drag down the lead- _ hinder progress. upward development er the depends entirely on permi'ting en ouraging superior individuals _ ions to progress as rapidly as (the secret of Americas suc- le Sintiod States i is oe most developed and prosperous of all it is evident that its human ma- the danger point to support other coun- tries which are either decadent (like Britain) or at lower evolutionary levels (like Liberia and Ethiopia). Peace can come only from righteous- ness and justice in the hearts of men, and the way to attain that is through a : mighty Christian crusade to establish the Kingdom of God throughout the world. STANLEY F. MORSE Wadmalaw Island, S. C. Lhe Congress is now. considering the so-called Reciprocal Trade Agreements bill. ~ Congress is charged by the Constitu- tion with the duty of regulating trade with foreign countries. It is the duty of Congress, if tariffs are imposed, to fix the rate of those tariffs. By the Recip- rocal Trade Agreements. Act, Congress abdicates its Ge onsetionst duty and undertakes to delegate the power of Congress to the Gent of the United States. Congress has just as much right un- der the Constitution to delegate all its law-making to the President as it has to delegate the fixing of tariffs. WORLD GOVERNMENT It is to be wondered if the majority of the people of the United States realize that Congress has ceded a tract of land in the State of New York to a foreign government, that is, the United Nations Oreanization. It would be interesting to know how many Congressmen and Senators could have been elected had they put their constituents on notice be- forehand that they would cede a part of the United States to a foreign power. INTERFERENCE IN . INTERWAL AFFAIRS Recently President Truman was more aid to England. trying to justify the further impoverish- ment of the United States by extending Many Congress- | men and Senators objected to furnish- ing more aid to England for the support | of social communism. The President made the statement that Democratic Governments were not going to inter- fere with the internal political affairs of | another country. 3 This would be fine if the President were sincere in the statement. Unfortu- nately, he means nothing of the kind. The Presidents entire policy, partie- ulavly his so-called Bill of Rights, is a declaration of the intention of the Fed- eral Government, not onlv to interfere in the internal political affairs of the sovereign states, but is actually a de- laration of intention to control the in- ternal political affairs of these sovereign states. = ASTONISHING In 1776, this country declared its in- _ dependence of the English crown, refus- ing to pay tax for the support of the English King. Today, the American people are paying billions of dollara every year for the support of England, including the Roval Eemny and all its accoutrements. In 1812, we fought an- other war with England because Ameri- nm seamen were impressed into the. British service. Today it is being pro posed to conscript American manpower to defend the British Empire from Hong | Kong to the Pillars of Hereules with the American taxpayers footing the bill. Someone has aptly said that Washing- ton, D. C., is the only insane asylum in the world that is run by the inmates. Draw your own conclusion.
