Once again nkind starts on another journey, ging to this old world like tiny ants a ball flying through the air and OWS not what fate lies in store from th all thy getting get understand- 99 : rough modern years man has been ng knowledge. He runs to and fro. iowledge is increased. But, with all getting, with all his increase of wledge, his understanding seems to less and less. Br six years ago the Wright Broth- flew the Kitty Hawk, first heavier- than-air flying machine, a very short tance in a hay field. The Wright others had high dreams of the great efits to mankind that would come hen man would conquer the air and able to ride on the winds from town to state. A few years later an American boy, - the son of a widowed school teacher mother, without fanfare, boarded a plane alone and in the greatest feat since Co- lumbus discovered America, Charles Lindberg crossed the Atlantic and brought his plane to a safe landing in the Old World. Today powerful long-range bombers and guided missles threaten the destruc- tion of all civilization, and man is as helpless in the hands of his own inven- tion as a child before some fierce beast of the Zoo which it has, with chilzsh simplicity, released from its iren cage. Less than a hundred years ago Ameri- ean soldiers in the War Between the States used muzzled loading guns. To- day, the foot soldier is armed with ma- chine guns of such deadly and rapid fire that one man is more dangerous to the foe than an entire company was when Lee and Grant faced each other in the fields of Virginia. Horse cavalry has been replaced by steel tanks so powerful of traction and gunfire that they are literally steel forts moving through the ranks of the enemy and crushing men in- to the earth as man himself treads on the insects under his feet. The scientists have developed, in re- cent years, Atom bombs and other dead- ly bombs, one of which can destroy more luman beings in a few seconds than the deadly Voleano Mount Vesuvius has destroyed in allthe ages of recorded times since it has buried city after city, under molten lava with all the inhabi- tants within their gates. Men of the Protestant faith have built churches of such grandeur that they would be the envy of Royal builders of old with millions and billions of dollars contributed by rich and poor. Men of the Catholie faith have built Cathedrals, rivaling the Temple of Solomon. In so far as appearance to the eye goes, they far surpass it. Men of the Jewish faith have built Synagogues the cost of which would have been a Kings ransom when the Caesars sat on their Roman thrones and ruled the known world. In the Eastern coun- tries the worshippers of different creeds have erected mosques and houses of wor- ship. by many names, with gifts of preci-" (Continued on Page lvur), PAGE TWO MARKET BULLETIN Address all items for on the mailing list and GEORGIA MARKET BULLETIN ublication and all requests to ke put fo or change of address to STAT.
