If it had not been the best food in the world, it would have been bad for me. I wish that everyone could have the opportunity once in a while to go back among the kind of people who live on the land, commune with God, and con- stitute the relatively small group on -whose account the country is spared. EVANS, GEORGIA On Friday, April 22, on invitation of Honorable N; F. Fiske, President, Geor- gia Hereford Farm, Inec., Evans, Geor- gia, and my old friend, Fd Avyeock, Moultrie, I attended a sale of fine Here- fords, there. Some of as fine animals as I have.ever seen anywhere were on sale. Thinking back a few years to the time when Georgia eattle were nearly all the services, reading the Serip=- T got away NOTICE Peanut Treatment Notice about peanut seed: On Tuesday, May 17, the committee re- ferred to in last weeks Market Bul- letin met in the office of the Commis- sioner of Agriculture. After thorough discussion it was decided, to give the lawyers a week in which to study all the legal phases of the matter. Due to the fact that neither the Seed Law nor the Insecticide Law gives the Commissioner of Agriculture authority to collect penalties for farmers, the State Law Department cannot represent farmers in collect- ing their claims for damages from the use of improperly treated seed. Because of this, it is necessary to make other arrangements for attorneys to represent the farmers. Mr. H. L. Wingate, of the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation, and_ the Commissioner of Agriculture are try- ing to work out some plan to get proper legal representation. Such a large number of farmers are involved, and they are scattered over such a large area, that an im- mense amount of work will be requir- ed to get each farmers claim in legal shape, but arrangements will be made to do this as soon as the lawyers have decided on a definite mode of pro- cedure. I will keep readers of the Market Bulletin posted from week to week on the progress that is made. The law- yers and committee will meet again on Thursday, May 26, and at that time | hope we can hawe a definite plan of eee ice. i re Y TOM. LINDER. ~whom I have known for years at Metter, ~ from Professor W. H. Fargason, 8 native and range cattle, it seemed hard to believe that I was not in some mid- western farm belt. Nothing I have ever seen in Kansas City, Chicago, or other places surpassed some of the animals on sale at Evans, Georgia. And, what is. more the fine type of beef animals are now -to be found in all sections of this State. The livestock business has become one of our top industries. WAYCROSS, GEORGIA = On Tuesday, April 26, I attended a fine livestock show and auction at Way- cross, Georgia. My old friend, Baggett, Georgia, is also conducting a sales barn at Wayeross. On the occasion of the Wayeross sale there was also a show of beef animals produced by Future Farmers and a Club Members. : It is amazing the number of fine bas : tures and animals to be found all acress_ the plains of South Georgia. xs CUMMING, GEORGIA os Thursday, May 5, was Fescue Field Day at Cumming, Georgia. There was a very large crowd in attendance. The tours over the county to the fine farms = with dairy cattle, beef cattle and fine pastures were most interesting. This meeting was also in the broiler: = belt. Almost every farm had one or more houses large enough to accomodate four : to ten thousand broilers ata time. One had but to look at the pastures to see the effect of chicken manure on the land. There were Fescue and Clover fields: in to which you would sink almost knee deep. Here, again, in the foothills of | North Georgia, was an impressive les- | son of progress in a big way. As we | rode along the roads passing nice homes, || barns and | fields vou-could sense that here was a people making marked progress | and a people of whom any state might be proud. ay ROBERTA, GEORGIA On Thursday, May 12, on invitation | uper- | intendent of Crawford County High | School, Roberta, I was privileged to make the graduating address to the High School Class. This was a-remarkable class, Hleven years ago there were seventy pupils in the first grade. This year, twenty-four of the seventy graduated. Of the twenty- four students there were fifteen boys and nine girls.
