J. BRYAN DORN, OF SOUTH CAROLINA Mr. Speaker, I wish to concur in what the distinguished gen: 3 tleman from Mississippi has just said about the indictment of Tom Linder in Georgia. We in South Carolina across the river from Z = Georgia admire the great stand of Tom Linder, of Georgia, in behalf of the cotton farmers and, indeed, of the farmers of every __ State of the 48 States of this Union. Possibly Tam wrong but it appears to me the Attorney General could find plenty of people who should be indicted without bringing charges against a ae . he who is obligated by virtue of his Sie cuon as commissioner of agri- : 5 : culture to fight for the rights of his people before committees of this Congress and elsewhere. I do not believe Mr. Linder has made ie een for personal gain. I believe the courts will prove this. Tom Linder has done a shod job for the farmers of the South. I agree with the distinguished gentleman from Mississippi that if they are going to indict anyone, why not indict some of these big monopolies, these big trusts, lobbyists for displaced persons and foreign loans here in Washington and not come down into the sove- reign State of Georgia and indict the commissioner of agriculture of a great and sovereign State. capable of building anything themselves and who desire to tear down what you have built. A few international-minded bureau- ctats, at the behest of great international combines, would have the American farmer produce and toil in direct com- petition with the natives of the Hast In- dies, the Philippines and the Congo of. Africa. They would have the American farmer produce cotton, corn, wheat and other crops direct competitisn with peon labor of all lands. They weuld re- duce the American farmer and his family to the economic level of all the world. They cannot do this unless they can \ liquidate those who can and will earry on who has Farmers this is vour fight and I know that you, the descendant of the men who a made this countr y, will not falter in the face of a few bureaucrats who are not the fight for American agriculture.
