Commissioner Linder was rep- resented by Assistants Attorney Genera! Claude Shaw and R. A. McGraw, while Seed Company was represented by former Chief Justice Charles S. Reid. These seed laws are made for Livestock Short Course _* The annual LIVESTOCK. SHORT COURSE will be held on March 27th and 28th in Confer Halli at tHe College of Agriculture, Athens, Georgia, accord- ing to an announcement made by Dean Paul W. Chapman of the College of Ag- ricuiture. Special features of the- pro- gram are as follows: 1. Nutrition, With Practical Hints for Feeding Beef Cattle and Hogs. Dr. Thomas S. Bell, Live- stock Extension Specialist. The public is invited to participate in public service with no charge for attend- }ing. Additional information may be. se- cured from Dean Paul W. Chapman, Col- lege of Agriculture, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. Ferry-Morse | the protection of Georgia farm- ers and Mr. Shaw in the course .of his argument to the Court re- cited the caption of the bill show- ing thai this law was for the pro- tection of Georgia farniers. All seed sold in Georgia in . packages must carry the name or license number of the licen- see. Merchants in Georgia sell- ing seed for. seed companies out- side of the state are required to place their own name or license number on each package. Where an out of state Company fur- nishes seed to a dealer in Geor- gia, and the out of State Com- pany is not registered with the Commissioner of Agriculture, the Georgia Dealer will sell at his own risk. It is important, therefore, that all Georgia deal- ers buy their seed from register- ed wholesalers who are willing to guarantee their seed and not place the burden on the local Georgia dealer. The Commissioner of Agricul- ture, in order to protect Georgia farmers, will withhold from sale all seed that do not comply with requirements of the Georgia law. It is therefore to the interest of the local seed dealer to pur- chase his seed from wholesale dealers who are licensed by the Commissioner of Agriculture. Otherwise the local dealer must assume entire responsibility for the seed and for-any damages arising by reason of the fact that the seed do not comply with the requirements of the seed law.
