In the Market Bulletin of August 8, 1945, I earried an article, from whieh as quote, as follows: HOLD THIS YEARS COTTON_ EVERY BALE OF IT Congress is now in recess but if you have to have money for your cotton, do not sell it but put it into the Government Loan. Tf you put cotton in the Loan you will have until next June to edeem it. In the meantime, there will be a cotton famine unless foreign cotton is imported. There has been a lot of talk about a great surplus of cotton on-hand. The truth of the mat- ter is that nearly all of the cot- ton in the warehouses has been picked over time and again in searching for spinnable cotton. If the cotton farmer begins selling this erop. as he gathers it, this will largely destroy the effect of the holding movement. Tf the cotton farmer gener- ally will refuse to sell cotton, Congress will take immediate action when it eonvenes to give the farmer a better price for this years crop. If you have old eotton that you have been holding, now is the time to hold on tighter than: ever. _ Tf the farmer does not get a price for what little cotton he has this year, be need never ex- pect to get a fair price.
