g The _sheer absurdity of the article
earried by The Saturday Evening Post
this past week- regarding Anderson-

yton in particular was of such na-
ture that I could not refrain from writ-
the Curtis Publishing Company.
The article was of such character
that it caused one to believe that it was
paic propaganda. Any publieation car=

I am reproducing, for your infor-
ation, the letter which I have this
day mailed Walter D. Fuller, President

gerous Man. -

This story purports to tell the c.
with, regard to Anderson Clayton Company
in general, and Mr. Will nee in partic-

As. to the ability of Mr. Glivion uaa
other personalities involved in the story,
have nothing to say.

ott is self-evident that men who can do
the colossal things that Mr. Clayton and
his partners. have done, are men of most
pnusual ability.

terest of the segment of the people most
directly affected by such operations.

Clayton was Assistant Secretary 6f Com-
merce, Anderson Clayton Company sold to
the Government 255,000 bales of cotton at
average price of. almost 3c per pound
bove the quoted market price of cotton
on the same day. This is a matter of offic-
ial record which you can easily verify. 3c
per pound on 255, 000 bales of cotton
amounts to $3,825,000.00.

In this story by Mr. Baum, the purport-

ure story written by Arthur W. Baum. The |

It does not follow, however, that the

In this connection, I would like to call
to your attention the fact that while Mr.

ed facts. as set out are so at variance with, :

_ Cotton Company in cotton have cost the

cotton farmers of the zouk untold: mill-
ions of dollars. oo

The activities of Anderson Clayton

Cotton Company and McFadden Company |

in manipulating prices on the New York
and New Orleans Cotton Exchanges cre-
ates a stench that reaches to Heaven.

Instead of theie activities on the cotton

exchanges having made. these exchanges

a place of bona fide purchases and sales

%

of actual cotton, they have been instru-

mental in making it impossible to buy and
: sell actual cotton on these exchanges.

The Commodity Credit Corporation, rE
am informed, has an appropriation of

$900,000.00. per year with which to make
investigation of the activities,
rules, etc., of futures commodity exchang-

'es.

In 1940 competent personnel | was. put te
on this work and such rottenness was un-.
covered that the National Administration

felt the necessity for covering this up.

In order to do this, the men who had
se exchang
es were let off the payroll hers they
could not effectively speak to the pub
in regard to the facts uncovered.

Believing | that The Saturday Evening

Post. has been made the victim. of some
snicrapaicas influence, _ I am writing to
call this to your attention. If I had not be-

lieved that The Saturday Evening Post was
a victim of sinister influence, and if I had

believed that, The Saturday Evening Post
was knowingly a party, I would not take
the trouble to write you about it.

If my opinion of the Saturday Even-

policies, .

ing Post is correct, you will make a full

investigation of this entire subject and
give your readers the benerit of your in-
vestigation. : oe a

I would like to i your attention to

a most essential fact in connection with

any investigation made. That is, that no
ordinary writer is capable of making this
investigation. It will take a man who has
technical knowledge of the operation and
manipulation in these exchanges, as well
as the influence exerted on these exchanges
by memberships and customers in foreign
countries to uncover and_expose the true
facts.

I would like also to call your attention
to the fact that under Federal law all com-

modity futures exchanges are under di-

rect control of THE BOARD.

THE BOARD is composed of the At- -
