meetings in different scutes of the State. :
- In spite of all handicaps, the Georgia farmers, are
, ermined to produce the greatest. oe they possibly can
nder the circumstances,
- The farmers of Wilcox County are Now carrying out a
derful program of land terracing and soil building.
Through most of south and middle Georgia, proper

rracing of the land is the first prime Tue to soil .

uilding : and soil conservation.

= che farmers of the peanut belt produced the greatest
op of peanuts in history in 1943. Georgia, the Carolinas,

abama and on through to Texas i is the real noe belt =

of the United States.
The peanut crop in Georgia has now reached the point

here it is the largest money oe, of the State, wy the

xception of cotton.

There is a great deal of tall coming out of Gann

to the effect that. our peanut oil will not be needed after the
war. The only reason*that every pound of peanut oil that
we can produce will not be needed is because the Inter-
tionalist . intend after the war to again import coconut
oil, palm oil and other vegetable oil from the Philippines
had East Indies Islands, as well as from South America.

Prior to the beginning of the war, this country was
importing a billion pounds of oil every year and the ie
nationalist want to do so again so as to force the price of

ne American crops back to the low world level.

= What is said with regard to peanut oil, applies equally
to cottonseed oil and soybean oil. Surely the farmers of

he peanut belt, cotton belt and soybean belt will see that
we have Congressmen and Senators in Washington who
will not permit the importation of this oil after the war, by
the Internationalist or by the Secretary of State, through
Trade Treaties.

The peanut growers a Cdorpin recently sent a dele-
gation to Washington in an effort to get the price of pea-
nuts raised_ by thie Government.

_ The price of peanuts under the Agricultural Adjust
ment Act should be in the neighborhood of $200.00 per ton
the price of cottonseed under: the Agricultural Adjust-

nt Act should be upward of $90.00 per ton. The only

reason they are not bringing this price to the farmers, is

cause the Agricultural Adjustment Act is not being

arried out by the United States Secretary of Agriculture.
_ Remember that when a Congressman or Senator votes
for a Trade Treaty or to permit the importation of foreign
ils, he is voting to put the cotton grower, the peanut grow-
and the soybean grower and all other farmers out of
business. This is true regardless of any camouflage about
good neighbor policies or otherwise.
In addition to their value for their oil and meal, pea-
