POTATOES: Georgia new crop pota- toes have not as yet made their appearance on the Atlanta market, but light offer- ings of Alabama Bliss and Triumphs have been offered. A weaker tendency has been felt on the market, although current supplies are light. Alabama potatoes in hundred pound sacks sold today at $2. 50 to $3.00 for U. 8. No. 1 quality. SPINACH: Georgia stocks have supplied the local trade. Sup- plies have been moderate, but trading generally slow at40c-60c per bushel. Some small lots have sold as high as 75c. SQUASH: Supplies have been moder- ate to liberal and selling at only $1.00 to. $1.25 per bushel for yellow varieties. First receipts from Georgia were noted on about. April 18th. The quality has been fairly good, but large receipts from Florida have prevented prices from advancing. STRAWBERRIES: A few Georgia local Klondike in 24 quart crates have been sold at $3.00 to $3.50 per crate. Most supplies, however, have been coming in from Alabama loading points. Supplies have been only moderate and a good de- mand has been reported Senerany for large firm berries. SWEET POTATOES have penne arriving from several states outside: of Georgia. If weather conditions are favorable during the next few days, _ several truckloads per day will be available in that - gection-around May 5th. ce New crop Irish potatoes are being marketed at - these markets at fair prices and the growers are mar- keting their Irish potatoes as fast as possible before other states get under way in moving their crop. re The tomato outlook is better and light move- ments will begin around May 15th. . Cucumbers, squash and other vegetables are al- - go looking good. : ; On the Valdosta market produce has started coming in in small quantities. The production out- look for this section is good. Most of the cabbage have moved out at a good price. However, this sec- tion does have a crop coming on now and is just about eady for cutting. Snap beans and Red Bliss potatoes are also com- ing on the market and it is reported the quality in this section is good. : - : The Valdosta section has a large acreage in can- taloupes and watermelons this year and weather con- ditions for these two crops so far have been excellent. Thomasville market has been marketing mostly -eabbage during the past two weeks and the prices re- _ ceived have been very good. price, but in the last day or two the demand has slowed down considerably. Sutton, State Veterinarian, has ap- proved the health certificate of two purebred cows that have been selected to represent Georgia dairy 1erds at the New York Worlds Fair. __One of the cows is a registered Guernsey owned by the Reigeldale Farms at Trion, and the other is a registered Jersey from Berry Schools at Mount Berry. Mr. Frank W. Fitch, of the dairy department of the Extension Service, Athens, says, This national honor has come to these two fine cows because of their outstanding accomplishments and they should be seen by all who visit the Fair. : ___ The Guernsey has a record of 15,342 pounds of milk and 963 pounds of butterfat, made as a two-year old.
