As I go over the state and see the great changes in farming, I am convinced that the present Soil Saving plan undertaken by the Roosevelt adminis- tration is doing more to save our land from washing away and to build up the soil than has been done in the last 50 years before the program was begun. Land is being terraced that never before had seen one; cover crops are being planted | and the land and timber are being: eared for in a- way the state has never witnessed. before. : It is my firm belief that if the present soil sav- ing and conservation program is continued, where- by the farmers receive payment for the conserva- that it will largely remake these tion methods, badly washed and highly eroded sections.
