The Thomasville Market. kort 10thThe Thomasville State Market is now giving twen- ; ty: -four hours service to the farmers and truckers. From this section we have moved twenty-seven cars of Gabbave is Sy rail and 373 tons by trucks. These cabbage have been bring- ing a very satisfactory price ranging from $15.00 to $20.00 per ton. The cabbage season is just coming in. From this date until about the first of May, with average weather conditions, it is x- - pected that they will be moved in great quantities. Within the next week we expect to move quite a few English peas from this section. Qther commodities such as onions, car- rots, turnip salad, collards, etc., are handled in small quantities. A good acreage of beans have been planied but due to unfavor- able weather conditions they will come in about ten or fiteen days ~ later than usual. However, the market will be exceedingly good _-and due to the fact that packing sheds, etc., are being built we will be better quipped to handle them than ever before. _ We have been keeping in close touch with truckers, giving ts the necessary information and so ie have been able to move all _ the cabbage, etc., available. a We have succeeded in establisning the chicken and egg market ~ with good reliable people. | They will pay the highest cash prices on the market. _be carried on every Saturday until May 1. H. BISHOP, Manager, - Farmers Market, Sears, Roebuck and Company, FERTILIZER INSPECTION Many farmers are worried because they do not get a report on analysis of their fertilizer as soon as they think they should. In this connection, Dr. Yarbrough, our State Chemist, advises that the Laboratories got a Jate start due to repairs that had to be made to the building and equipment. They are now running at top speed and reports will be sent out as fast as completed. He states that when samples come in they are given a number and are run through in numerical order. Also, that it will be several weeks after a sample is taken before it is possible to get a report, as they have practically 2,000 samples on hand and more coming in. The farmers, however, need not hold up their planting waiting for the report, for should the analysis of their fertilizer run below the guaranteed analysis they will be enitled to a rebate just the same, G. A. GILLESPIE, Chief Fertilizer Inspector, Department of Agriculture, Atlanta, Ga. Next, the oculist, the dentist, the physician, the pookstore, the dry cleaner and the shoe repair- er: farm woman is circulating mon- ey. It helps everybody, so they say in Decatur County, and we women are doing it ourselves, Remember, this is the Womens Division and a. public spirited woman with the interest of yourselves and your sister up- permost in your heart appreci- ates what. Mr. Columbus Roberts has done in giving us our own Now, women, lets put aside every personal feeling and all pull together to make the Womens Division of our Bureau of Markets the salvation of the women of Georgia, We can do it if every woman in Georgia will do her part. Some will sell, others will buy. It will be folly for the rural women to make ~ handwork or can fruits, or grow. vegetables if the town women. do not buy. So it is the respon- sibility of every woman in Geor- gia; it ig the duty of the women of all organizations, whether Womens Clubs, Clubs, Garden Clubs, Missionary Societies, D. A. Rs., U. D. Cs., Democratic Clubs or what-nots to help us make plans to market | the produce of the rural women of Georgia. - If every woman in every town @nd city in Georgia would say, We will give our rural women the first chance before we buy thus keeping the money in each respective county; and then if the Club Women and lay- women oi the cities of Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, and Augusta would say, Wea - will help provide places in our. = city for the display of the works of our rural women and we will eficourage the sale of their wares, | first by helping to arrange a place for marketing and also i encouraging our friends to buy. What an amount of money we could. keep at home, and after all, this is our State and if we want our ,people happy and prosperous we must all do our bit. It is not enough to nod approvingly and hands off; it is a project for the women of Geor- gia and it is only through wom- en. it can be put. over. a Are we good citizens? Do we want agriculture to prosper in. Georgia? Do we want to keep our State from economic disas- ter? We women can do it by not have money like the men to work with but we have the will, ambition, and sense to do; _ and faith in God and one an- other, which has ae pulled women through.
