A number of our farmers in the state are probably wondering why they are failing to. get their fertilizer sampled as rapidly as heretofore. oe For those who are not familiar with the facts, I want to say that the appropriation for the Department of Agriculture is about one third of what it is in normal times andas a result I am only able to place on the pay roll this season about one half of the in- spectors that are normally used and they are on with the reduced allocation for traveling expenses. Both the office and the men in the field are doing the best they can to sample every farmers fertilizer as rapidly as possible who caus it. ! Please enone: that this reduction in appropriation and con- sequently of service is done to prevent the state from going in debt and to assist in getting it out of debt. : A foal sure that with this knowledge our farmers will be patient and will cooperate as much as possible with the Department in handling a difficult situation. es C.
