Jones, Director DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE Kugene Talmadge, Commissioner Thursday, November 8, 1928, Entered as second class matter Febru- ary 15, 1922, at the Post Office at At- Tanta, Georgia, under the act of June 6, 1900. Accepted for mailing at spe- cial rate of postage provided for in sec- tion 1103. Act of October 3, 1917. . Advertisements of farm produce and appurtenances, admissible under pos- tal regulations, inserted one time on each request, and repeated only when request is accompanied by new copy of advertisement. Under ~ legislative act the Market Bulletin does not assume any responsibility for any advertisement appearing in the Bulle- tin or transaction resulting therefrom. CO-OPERATION MEANS CONSER- VATION Addressing itself to the. sportsmen of the state at this season, when hunting is beginning to reach its height, the State Game and Fish De- partment, in futherance of its efforts to conserve the wild life of the state, and thereby increase it, says: Co-operation is conservation. Co- operation is also the very best method | of law enforcement; it is so much more pleasant. In this connection the Department of Game and Fish asks that the people of the state, particu- larly at this season of the year, bear in mind these things: It is a violation of law to bait a field for dove shooting, or to shoot in or around a baited field. It is a violation of law to either buy or sell, at any time, quail, doves, snipe, woodcock, curlew, wild tur- keys, grouse, marsh hens, squirrels _ and certain other game. This applies _ to everybody. It also is a violation of law for hotels, cafes or other pub- lie eating places to serve any of this game. Dont kill any game birds or game animals at night. It is against the law to do so, or to trap any bird or animal by use of a dead-fall or simi- jar device. : Tt is a violation of both state and federal game laws to mail any game birds or animals beyond the limits of your county. ms The very best example of enforce- ment of these regulations, all of them intended as conservation measures, is to co-operate in their observance, and set that good example to your fellow sportsmen. GEORGIA PRODUCTS DINNER Tuesday night, October 23, there was held at Cumming, Ga., a Fathers and Sons banquet. This gathering was unusual in many respects. Promoted by Mr. P. S. El kin, Professor of Vocational Agri- culture, it was a splendid example of what may be accomplished in Ga., when the young men learn to do by doing. The tables upon which the bounti- ful spread was srved were made by the boys of the school. The dinner was all that could be desired..A huti- dred plates were served and the mal was composed almost in its entirety of GEORGIA PRODUCTS. In fact, _the only things purchased were sugar, flavoring, etc. The total cost was less than $3.50. ; It was indeed refreshing to see the fathers and sons of Forsyth Co., come together for a practical discus- sion of their agricultural problems, and for a demonstration of what has already been accomplished. The young ladies of the Domestic _| Science Department, in serving the banquet, proved that they have stud- ied more than the mere theory of domestie arts. It is impossible to estimate the ul- timate good that results from the coordinated efforts of those really interested in the progress of agri- evlture. Professor Elkin stated that out of forty turee boys in his Agri- cultural class, thirty three of them had already planted an acre to cover crops and that the other ten were making plans to do likewise, thus improving their soil. The work of Professor Elkin and other leaders in Forsyth County can- not be commended too highly. I only wish that every county in Georgia would thus encourage their young men to learn to farm scientifically and to stay on the farms. Miscellaneous Ads For Sale50 M.
