VOL. 11. GEORGIA. JARKET BULLE: bf ae - DEPARTMENT of (Si EU GENE TALMADGE PUBLISHED bi the BUREAU OF MARKET S.-Y STATE CAPITOL ATLANTA, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, MAY 10, 1928. COMPLAINTS This paper is the one paper in Georgia that is paid by the _ farmer solely. This paper is operated on a portion of the tax _ charged on fertilizers as an inspection fee. It costs the farmers _ of Georgia about $5000 a year for this department to answer - complaints relative to the Market Bulletin. Some parties who wish to purchase articles that are adver- tised in the Bulletin send checks which are not good and they are returned marked Insufficient Funds. These matters are taken up with us and we have to go to the expense of getting _ them straightened out for the customers of the paper. A great many people have written us that they see articles advertised in the Bulletin, the name and address of the party wishing to sell being given, they write to these parties and never hear from them. This ought not to happen. Common _ courtesy and business require that you answer a letter im- oe pel: :: / _ Always state in your advertisement exactly what you have i 1; deliver. We have complaints from people who state that 2 they have received shoddy goods after they haves paid the price that would entitle them to a good nei: Lets cut this 2 out. Another a in chen you could help the Market Bulletin is after you have sold all of the merchandise which you have listed for sale, you do not notify us that you have sold out. If the people calling on the Bureau of Markets to help them sell articles, will just drop us a card when they are sold out we will take this article from the list and it will save us a great deal of time andexpense and trouble in giving parties who wish to buy the wrong information. Another thing which oecurs more frequently than you would imagine is that people will send in advertisements to the Bulletin and forget to sign their name or give their ad- dress. About a week later we will get a letter eussing us out for not carrying their ad, and by comparing the hand- writing on the ad with the letter we can learn the name and address. Of course we could not have carried the ad without name or address. This complaint ean be easily stopped. Re- member farmers this is your paper, it is up to-you to get it up to a standard where anyone purchasing goods through this medium will have confidence in the article which they pur- chase and the one from whom they are purchased. The better you can do this, the better price you can obtain for the stuff which you sell through the Bulletin. One more thought that might come under the head of Com- plaints. There is a general complaint over the southern states on the outlook for crops this year. The backward seasons and exces- Sive rains which we have had this spring surpass anything that we have known for the past fifty years. emember, Georgia farmers this is general over the south. Take heart, _ work what you have well, there will not be a full crop made this year, and the crops you have should be made to pay. EUGENE TALMADGE.
