Service of Memory Celebrating the Life of Elder George Monroe Williamson The Hammer Heaven Sent Heaven Bound November 24,1943 April 27, 2019 ~Homegoing Celebration~ 11:00AM Saturday May 4, 2019 Greater Harvest Church of God Sanctified 1400 Inverness Road Sylvan Lake, Michigan 48320 Elder Jerry Seawright, Eulogist Elder Michael McElwee, Officiating Elder Kevin Christmon Sr., Host Pastor ~Obituary~ On Saturday, April 27, 2019, George Monroe Williamson, loving husband and father of three, passed at the age of 75. George was born on November 24, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA to Monroe Williamson and Marigine Wills. He was the third of four children. Upon graduating from high school in Bath, South Carolina, George became a skilled technician at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. It was there he met the love of his life, Marian Mims. They were married on June 27, 1964 and together raised three sons: Tracy Karlton, Troy Karvell and Trevor Kennard. In 1967, George moved his family to Pontiac, Ml where he worked at General Motors (GM) for 40 years before retiring. While working at GM, he also worked at Pontiac General Hospital for 20 years. None of George's accomplishments would compare to a decision he made in 1977 to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Elder Williamson immediately gained a strong desire to know God's word, which lead to an insatiable passion to rightly divide the word of truth. In 1992, he became Pastor of Pontiac Church of God, Sanctified. Through the Church of God, Sanctified, he served as Assistant Northern District Overseer for 12 years, was the First Regional Overseer for one term, led seminars for the district's ministers, served as district and national Sunday school teacher for clergy, participated in the development of the organization's National Christian Education Department, was the National Clergy Instructor and taught clergy during annual ministerial retreats along with district and national conventions. After 25 years, Elder Williamson retired as Pastor of New Life Community Church. His retirement did not interfere with his love for teaching, discussing and delighting in God's word. He had a benevolent heart, a warm smile and a great sense of humor. He loved his family and friends. He epitomized scriptures, such as, "Love your neighbor as yourself," "A friend sticks closer than a brother," and "Be not weary in well doing." He discipled many young men who went on to become pastors, ministers and teachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Williamson leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Marian L. Williamson; sons, Troy Williamson, Trevor (De'Shaella) Williamson and special son, Pastor Jerry (Karen) Seawright; grandchildren, Trace and Lauren Williamson; great grandchild, Jayden Williamson; sisters, Jeanette Gethers of Aiken, SC and Sylvia Satterwhite of Philadelphia, PA; one brother-in-law, Henry Ray of Aiken, SC; two sisters-in law, Ruby (Geno) Robinson of Miami, FL and Willia Mae (Clasper) Smith of Augusta, GA; special friend, Elder Michael McElwee and a host of other family and friends. Elder Williamson was preceded in death by his son, Tracy K. Williamson; parents, Monroe Williamson and Marigine Washington; and sister, Sylvia Ray. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Seawright Pastor, New Life Community Church &>wm the IPa^tm What is Man? You made him a little lower than the angels (Psalm 8:4-5) When God created man, He made him in one way lower than angels. It is not that he is lower than angels spiritually, or is less loved by God. Nor is he 1 lower than angels in importance to God. Man is lower than angels only in that 1 he is physical and they are spiritual. Angels are heavenly creatures, while man is earthbound. Obviously this is a limiting and major difference, and man is therefore now of a lower rank. Man is confined to earth and to relatively nearby space. Angels are not confined to the spiritual. They are able to come to earth at will and have supernatural power and strength that even sinless man did not have. Mans only direct communion with God has been that which he had with Jesus while He was on earth. Angels have continual access to God. Angels are spirit beings; man is made out of dust of the earth. After Satan rebelled, the faithful angels were secured in holiness forever; after Adam rebelled, all man were cursed with him. In Adam, all died (1 Corinthians 15:22). At the time of creation, Angels were perfect, man was only innocent. Even in his innocence, man had the choice to sin. Angels were never subject to death as man was. In the coming new earth, things will be much different. The saints of the Highest , One will receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, for all ages to I come. Redeemed men not only will inherit a perfect kingdom, but an eternal kingdom, in which they, not angels, will rule. Man was created as king of the earth, and in Gods final destiny for him, man will one day be the sovereign that his creator designed him to be. He will one day be above the angels and will, in fact, even judge the angels who have fallen (1 Corinthians 6:3).
