Dr. R. L. White Evangelist Bertha Williams OBITUARY v (* Deceased) Mother Lucia Mae Williams, the oldest of ten siblings was born to *Corrie Lee Jackson Scott and *John Scott in Abbeville, South Carolina on July 13, 1909. As a very young child, she worked on a farm, owned by her grandfather, *Harry Jackson, who was born into slavery and escaped or was freed as a young child. At an early age, Mother Wiliams confessed her faith in Christ and joined Campfield Baptist Church in Abbeville, South Carolina, under the leadership of *Rev. Earl. She received formal education from the South Carolina school system. In the early 1930s, she moved to Atlanta and settled in the Blantown community. There she met and married "Issac Anderson. To this union one child, "Louise Anderson Fields, was born. After the death of Issac, she met and married *Shedrick Williams, in June, 1936. To this union came two stepdaughters: Thelma Lee Moore, *Emma Lena Showers. Mother Williams joined St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of * Rev. Sims. She was a faithful member of the Willing Workers Club and Senior Ushers Board. While serving God as an Usher, she organized the Junior Ushers Board. She was a faithful member of the Senior Ushers Board until she could serve no more. She provided her leadership and God gifted talents to the Baptist Training Union (BTU) and Vacation Bible School (which was held during the day). She participated in the Prayer Band, which traveled around the community to pray, minister and feed the hungry. She joined the Mothers Board, where she served until her last days. She was devoted to God. Many of us experienced her God given talents as a nurse, doctor and healer through Christ. Her remedies made doctors marvel. As we all know, some of her talents, in todays standard, would have required a higher degree of education. Her talents helped her to plan, manage, finance and employ many of her friends and relatives at the Williams Cafe\ which she ran from the basement of her home. In her business, she not only provided food service, but she ministered to many of her customers from Gate City Table and other companies in Blantown and neighboring communities. She opened up her home for choir members to rehearse, for relatives to rest and for friends to feast. She was a seamstress and made clothes for the people of Blantown. Mother Lucia Mae Williams, praised God up to her last day. She was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 22, 2002 in Wellstar Cobb General Hospital. She has five sisters Allie Mae Martin, Jessie Bell Johnson, Minnie Lee Morris, Patsy ONeal Grant and "Annie Williams; four Brothers: "Roosevelt Scott, "Harry Scott, "James Scott (Buddy) and "John Robert Scott; 17 Grandchildren; 41 Great Grandchildren and 25 Great-Great Grandchildren; a total 83 Grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She leaves behind her rich legacy for all to cherish for years to come. Prelude Order of Service Reverend John Davis, Presiding Processional ; , Solo................................................
