Donald Wilkes was born to the late Marvin and Ella Wilkes on September 19, 1944 in Augusta, Georgia. He attended Lucy C. Laney High School and graduated in 1964. 
He later relocated to Brooklyn, NY with his twin brother -Ronald who preceded him in death. Also, brothers Jack and Marvin, and sister, Ella Wilkes preceded him in death. Donald was an armored guard for Wells Fargo during the 80's. He later became a security officer for Brookdale Hospital where he eventually retired in 2003. 
On November 11, 1972, Donald Wilkes and Shirley Lawrence were united in matrimony. From this union, they were blessed with two children; Tachelle Necole and Donald Khaaliq Wilkes. 
Donald was an angel who was always there with a listening ear. God gave him the gift of healing where he touched many people. He possessed a jovial and loving spirit with a powerful presence as well. On February 3, 2009, Donald completed his work on this earth. 
Donald Wilkes is survived by: his wife, Shirley Wilkes of Brooklyn, New York; two children, Tachelle Necole, and Donald Khaaliq Wilkes, Brooklyn, NY; his father-in-law, Allen Lawrence of Rocky Mount, NC; three brothers, Robert Wilkes, Brooklyn, NY, Raymond Wilkes and James Wilkes both of Augusta, Ga.; two Godmothers, Lena Frazier Bussey & Mammie Lathan; two Godbrothers, Charles Williams and John Hatney, and a host of sister and brother in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
