Born in Richmond County, Georgia, on January 20,1949, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Mina Weaver Dease and brother, Robert Edward Weaver. Richard was the living embodiment of generosity, kindness and unselfishness, as he tried to help everybody that he came in contact with. He embraced life, service and leadership through the lens of honesty, truth and strong perseverance while maintaining a spiritual focus. He was baptized in the faith at an early age - a hard fighting soldier serving faithfully as chairman of the Deacon Board of the Newness of Life Baptist Church, which he co-founded. Richard graduated from T.W. Josey High School in 1967 and went on to serve a tour of duty in the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman. He later joined the Richmond County Sheriffs Department where he moved up the ranks pretty rapidly, retiring as a Major after forty-one years of dedicated service to the citizens of Richmond County. He was a championship breeder and active member of the Augusta German Shepherd Dog Club for many years. He fought a good fight protecting and serving his community prior to succumbing to his battle with prostate cancer. Richard will forever live on in the memory of: his loving wife, Ethel Weaver; son, Richard Carloff (Shetara) Weaver; daughter, Tigist Chara (Walter) Slaton; grandchildren, Miles Ravi Slaton, Asia Michelle Weaver, Dennis J. Troutman, III and JaKobi P.
