M atilda Bady W alker BIRTH Matilda W alker was born October 23, 1931 in Emanuel County, Georgia to the late Edmond and Matilda Bady. EDUCATION She received her early education at Mt. Zion Primary School. She furthered her studies at Augusta Technical School. MARRIAGE She was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Thomas Walker on January 7, 1950, and to this union God blessed them with five children. Together they enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage. CHURCH AFFILIATION At an early age she joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. After moving to Augusta, She joined the Friendly Church of God in Christ, where she was a faithful member for over twenty years. For a short time she worshipped at the Bible Way Apostolic Church. She founded and pastored the New Bread of Heaven for over sixteen years. WORK EXPERIENCE For a short time Matilda worked as a factory worker at the Mark's Handcuff Factory, and as a custodian for the Richmond County Board of Education. But her life consisted of taking care of children. For years, she had a child daycare service in her home. She later became a foster mother. SURVIVORS She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of sixty-one years, Deacon Charlie T. (C.T.) Walker; son, Stanley (Patrula) W alker of Hephzibah, Georgia; daughters, Comfort "Lizzie" (Joseph) Barron, Sonya Yvonne (Ralph) Baker of Augusta, Georgia, Charline Tolbert-Mitchell of Columbus, Georgia and Cynthia (Gary) Redding of Stone Mountain, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Alcure (Rose) Walker of Alberteen, Maryland and Virgil Rea (Margaret) Walker of Saginaw, Michigan; four sisters-in-law, Adline Bady of Garfield, Georgia, Julia B. Bady, Shirley Bady and Josephine Bady, all of Saginaw, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two dear friends, Gertrude "Aunt Gert" W alker and Mrs. Dora Augustus; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
