Deacon Isaiah Turner, son of the late Mr. James and Mrs. Martha Turner, entered the Master's joy on Monday, February 15, 1993 after an extended illness. He was born September 19, 1904 in Burke County, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Burke County, Georgia. At an early age, he was converted, baptized, and fellowshipped at the Noah's Ark Baptist Church, Burke County, Georgia. After moving to Augusta to live, he united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served faithfully in whatever capacity he was needed. He was a dedicated Deacon. He was married to the late Susie Mae Williams Turner. They served God together for 48 years. He was a former Civil Service Worker, having retired from Fort Gordon in June 1973. He was active in many religious, civic, and benevolent organizations. He was always generous with his time, energy, and finances for the betterment of his fellowman. Even in his declining days, he always did his part, in whatever way he could to make for a success. In July, 1988, he was united in marriage to Mozelle James. She helped to make his days more comfortable. He will be missed in his home, and the community for his pleasant smile, and gentle, unselfish ways. Cherishing fond memories are: his devoted wife, Mrs. Mozelle J. Turner; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Jordan; five sister-in-law, Viola Turner, Willie Mae Turner, Rosa W. Pugh, Claudia Brown and Myrtis Williams; brothers-inlaw, Percy Kelly and Willie A. Brown; nieces, nephews, fifteen God children, other relatives and a host of friends. ******** The pains o f death are past; Labor and sorrow cease; A n d life's long warfare closed at last, H is soul is found in peace.
