Obituary 
"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1 
A Time to Be Born Sarah Almond Evans Thompson was bom to the late Dr. Louis D. Evans and Medora Jefferson Evans on May 22, 1914 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the 5th child of six siblings. 
A Time to Be Re-Born Mrs. Sarah was a devoted Christian. She grew up in the church and was baptized as a member of Union Baptist Church at an early age. She was an active member of the church, where she served in numerous leadership roles; Church Treasurer, Program Chairperson and Communion preparation. 
A Time to Love She fell in love and married Harold D. Thompson, Sr. They were blessed with two sons, Harold D. Thompson, Jr., and Charles A. Thompson. She lived as a positive role model for her children. She also raised her niece, Joan Thompson. 
A Time to Weep She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; her loving brothers Louis V. Evans, William Evans, Phillip L. Evans, Albert Evans and a sister, Beatrice Evans, (continued on next page)

 A Time for Every Purpose under the Heaven Mrs. Sarah attended Richmond County Public Schools; she attended Haines Normal Institute under the guidance of Miss Lucy C. Laney, where she finished high school. She attended Paine College and became an educator in Richmond County Public Schools. She was a teacher at C. T. Walker Elementary School. Mrs. Sarah was a tireless energetic woman who wore many hats. For instance, she helped her sons run their family business, Thompson Farms. In addition to her many church involvements and leadership activities, she was involved in various civic organizations: The Women's Civic Club, the Citizens Advisory Committee at G. D. Searle Corporation and was the nurse for many family members. 
 
A Time to Embrace 
 
Mrs. Sarah entered into her peaceful rest on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 
 
Trinity Hospital in Augusta. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, 
 
Harold D. Thompson, Jr., and Charles A. Thompson, both of Augusta. In 
 
addition, she leaves two sisters-in-law, Hyacinth Von Evans, Port 
 
Charlotte, FL and Ada M. Evans, Augusta. She leaves seven nieces: Joan 
 
Thompson Hennessey, Portland, OR; Medora Von Evans and Velita 
 
(Ricardo) Tunon, New York, NY; Alethea Powell, Delores Swerdloff and 
 
Octoria (Tony)Dukes, East Orange, NJ and Adrienne Nicole Evans, 
 
Augusta; four nephews: Louis Von (Alaina) Evans, New York, NY; 
 
William (Sandy) Evans, Jr., Douglas (Angie) Samuels, Bobby (Lori) 
 
Evans, Augusta; a dear friend, Ms. Minnie Chavous and a host of great- 
 
and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. 
 
Special thanks to Patricia Barnett, her nurse/caregiver; Constance Parker 
 
and Carmen Few, the ladies that were her caregivers.

Our Mother, A Virtuous Woman 
Our Mother, spiritual, social, business advisor and our friend, With love and strength she supported us until the end. 
After the death of her husband, our Father, we were left very young; She was a determined woman, who knew her work had just begun. 
Our Mother was the potter; we were her clay. Through the help of God, 
She shaped and molded us in every way. That is why we are who we are today. 
Mother's patience, love, and firm spoken words; they warmed the coldest heart. She radiated contentment that drew others to her, right from the start. When she spoke, from her mouth wisdom came. Her tongue was the law of kindness, 
"Be faithful to each other, she often would remind us." 
Mother taught sound morals and principles; "Be upright, honest and sincere." 
She realized one day God would call her, so those values she instilled. The query: ''Who can find a virtuous woman?" Is answered with, "Our Mother!" Her value? Far more than gold or rubies.

 With faith and work she performed a virtuous woman's duties. O ar Mother weathered many storms; she climbed many mountains, too. Cod lifted her tip above adversity; that's how she was able to see life through. 
Her work seemed as though it was never done, Yet she managed to continue on. 
She most certainly was the gine that hound our treasured Thompson Farm*. 
Mother was homemaker, secretary, and bookkeeper, all in one. She handled it weU as the days rolled on; she was determined to he strong. 
Like a merchant ship in the night, She held high her beacon light. 
She guided ns through the storms of life, And made sure in the end, we would be alright. 
Many mothers have virtuously lived and gone. Onr Mother, Sarah Almond Evans Thompson exemplified the best of them. 
And in our hearts, will forever live on.

 A Message from Mother

Goodbye, and thank you, For all you have given me For all of the smiles and all of the laughter, The holding of hands and the silences. We will be together, forever, 
Wherever we are. Do not cry for me, my darling
