Young, Sr., Assisting ** OBITUARY ** Dr. Harry Maurice Thompson was born an only child to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thompson in Amory, Mississippi, on November 20,1932. He departed this fife on Wednesday, September 26, 1984. His father preceded him in death in 1971. At an early age, he and his parents left Mississippi when his father became an employee of the U.S.O. Doctor Thompsons early education was received in Florida, Tennessee, and finally at Haines Institute, Augusta, Georgia, from which he graduated at the age of fifteen. During these formative years, he was active in many school, church and community activities. He earned the "Eagle Scout Award" from the Bethlehem Center and was emloyed at the Harper Brothers Art Shop. He is a graduate of Clark College of Atlanta, Georgia, Howard University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., and he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. In the community, he served as president of the Board of Directors of the Bethlehem Center; President of the Augusta Stoney Medical-Dental and Pharmaceutical Society, and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was a licensed Political Consultant. He was a member of the St. Mark Methodist Church where, among many assignments, he served as Chairman of the Administrative Board, and at the time of his passing, he was Chairman of the Finance Committee. Doctor Thompson leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Vivian W. Thompson; his son, Harry Maurice Thompson, Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Ora Thompson; three daughters, Mrs. Denese Henderson, Miss Carole Dale Thompson, and Miss Caye Deidre Thompson; two aunts, Mrs. P.C. Robinson, and Mrs. George W. Lucas; a grandson, Herbert Henderson, V; a son-in-law, Herbert Henderson, VI; two uncles, Mr. Willard Crawford, and Reverend Peter Crawford; a father-in-law, Mr. Nathaniel Wiley, Sr., and other in-laws and friends. **ORDER OF SERVICE ** THE ORGAN PRELUDE ".S.o.n.a.t.in..a".................
