She was born on October 28, 1928 to the late Keller Knight and Fleming Golphin in McBean, Burke County Ga. Site was later adopted by Francis and John Freeman. Afterwards, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia for a short while. She was baptized at an early age at Spring Grove Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia. She attended Burke County Schools. Early in life, she met and married Mr. James F. Taylor and joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She wore many hats. She was a member of the Warren Jones Club. She also served as an usher. Among her children are: Eloise Taylor FIawes (Leonard), Patricia A. Taylor Pace (the late James Pace), Donald (Ester, a faithful daughter-in-law) Taylor, Willie M. Taylor, Chaimeey Taylor, the late Araita Taylor, Maurice Taylor, the late Andre Taylor, Maxine Taylor, Chantay Taylor, Samuel fayior, and Japonica Taylor. Margie has a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Margie was a mother to many. She worked at Woodlawn Baptist Church for many years. To this day, Margie boasts to maintain a childhood friendship with Ms. Lottie Bryant. Margie is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Taylor; sister, Ertha Pickney; three brothers: Shorty Golphin, Levi Golphin, and Holsea Golphin. Two grandsons, Alfaigo T. Davis and Marcus Taylor, all of Augusta, Georgia.
