It is not death to die, Tis but a step to glory And a mansion in the sky. DEACON MOSES STOKES, son of the late Reverend Marshall Stokes and Mary Ann Willis Stokes, was born March 5th, 1924, in Lincolnton, Georgia. He departed this life on February 18th, 2005 at his residence. At an early age, he was converted, baptized and joined the Thank ful Baptist Church, Lincolnton, Georgia. Upon moving to Augusta, Georgia he joined the Liberty Baptist Church during the leadership of the late Reverend J.R Murphy. He was a dedicated member of the Trustee Board, Deacon Board, Wrestling Jacob Club, attended Sunday School and he was honored as "Father-of-the-Church." He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mozelle Hicks, who preceded him in death. To this union three children were born. He was a devoted father, father-in-law, and grandfather and will be missed by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory: one devoted daughter, Mary (John) Murphy of Flint, Michigan; two dedicated sons, Herbert (Crystal) Stokes and Johnny (Constance) Stokes, both of Augusta, Georgia; four loving grandchildren, Shatareia Stokes, Shakeitrice Stokes, Rodriquez (Alvintina) Taylor and Emiliano Stokes, all of Augusta, Georgia; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Murray and Mrs. Ida Ann Sutton of Lincolnton, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Oscar (Eula) Stokes of Lincolnton, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Hicks of Augusta, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Mr. Richard Brinson of Augusta, Georgia; one godchild, LaGayle Evans of Au gusta, Georgia; a special friend, Mr. John Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 1 he \Jrder of Service Reverend George Edwards ~ Presiding Processional Selection ..........................................
