His parents, Mr. Grant Steele and Mrs. Lola Simpkins Steele, preceded him in death. Mr. Steele made his home in Emanuel County for 41 years. He spent many productive years as a farmer. He departed this life on September 15, 1997, at Twin View Nursing Center, following a lengthy illness. The memory arid legacy of his life will remain with his wife, Mrs. Ackines Gaines Steele Twin City, GA; ten children: Tom Steele, Jr., Virginia A. Morris, Eilene S. Bady, Louise Steele, Shirley Randall, Patricia Steele, Oscar Steele, Toney Steele, Johnny Steele - Twin City, GA; David Steele - Savannah, GA; eight step-children: Hattie Carlyle, Susie Gatson, Tracy Steele, Latricia Steele, Willie Steele - Twin City, GA; Derrick Steele - Virginia; Ike McKinney, Jr. - South Carolina; Hattie Perry - Vero Beach. FL. Three sisters: Corrine Boatwright and Willie Mae Rountree - Millen, GA; Ola Woods Waynesboro, GA; two brothers: Henery Steele Statesboro, GA; Roosevelt Steele - Millen, GA.
