Eliza was the tenth child of ten children (baby girl) born to the late Deacon Allen and Eliza Brigham Givens. Eliza was educated in the Burke County School System. At an early age, she joined Cochran Grove Baptist Church in Girard, Georgia. After relocating to Augusta, Georgia, she joined Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church under Christian Experience, serving faithfully until her health failed. After thirty-two years, Eliza retired from the Kellogg Company. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: husband, Nathan Samuels; son, Gary Givens, Macon, Georgia; daughter, Jackie Givens, Augusta, Georgia; sister, Mary (Bishop Thomas) Aaron, Hephzibah, Georgia; brother-in-law, Boulder Samuels, North Augusta, South Carolina; aunt, Mildred Brigham; four stepchildren, Navesia Samuels, Los Angeles, California; Natlie Samuels (Bernard Roberson), Lithonia, Georgia, Martina Samuels, Columbia, South Carolina and Teresa Person, Augusta, Georgia; two stepsisters; three stepbrothers; godchildren, Trye Luke, Angela Moton Cooper, Kim Stewart, Jada Treadwell, Carl Jones and Delwin Corner; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
