 Obituary 
 
Today we gather to commemorate the love, joy, and happiness that God Almighty has placed in our midst in the personality of Vesta Mildred Sutton Robinson. As surely as the seasons make their transition from one to the other, so did Vesta on May 8, 1994. She was bom on May 6, 1909 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late George and Annie L. Sutton. 
 
She attended the public schools of Dooly County and graduated from Gillespie High School. She entered the Lamar School of Nursing at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia and graduated as a registered nurse. She did further studies at McHany Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee. 
On December 11,1929, she was united in Holy Wedlock to the late Dea. Grover Cleveland Robinson. They lived happily together for 51 years. 
 
Vesta was converted at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church, Macon County, Georgia. In 1929, she joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia. At Mount Calvary she has served as assistant church clerk (to her husband), president of the Deaconess Board, Treasurer of the Senior Citizens Ministry, Chairpersons for Special Events Day for Women, and as a member of the Medical Ministry, and the May__ 
Birthmonth Club. 
 
Civic organizations of which she had an active part included: The League of Democratic 
 
Women, The Railroad Retirees Group, and the Lamar Nurses Association. She was a poll 
 
worker at the Dyes Park Voting Center during elections.

Her employment included: The Aiken County Health Services, Richmond County Board of Health, University Hospital 1946-1972, School Nurse at A.R. Johnson and T.W. Josey High Schools. She retired in 1976. 
 
Sharing the days of life have been: two nieces, Mrs. Zelma S. Barnett and Mrs. Bernice S. Brown of Akron, Ohio; a devoted great-niece, Ms. Pamela B. Idohosa of Akron, Ohio, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Matilda L. Sutton of Fayetteville, NC and Mrs. Reba Sutton of Atlanta, Georgia; a foster son and daughter, James and Gussie Conner, foster grandchildren, Velyna (Conner) and Frank Johnson of Roswell, Georgia, and Weyta (Conner) and Michael Malone of New Orleans, LA; foster great-grandchildren, Michael, Jr. and Joya, god-children, Mrs. Aundra G. Clark and Christopher Handy. She also says farewell to many relatives, devoted friends, and two personal care companions, Mrs. Margaret C. Kelsey and Martha C. Lambert.
