FIRST METROPOLITAN BAPTIST CHURCH 3179 Belair Road Augusta, Georgia Reverend Enoch Ward, Jr., Pastor - Officiating LIEUTENANT COLONEL (RETIRED) EDDIE ROBERTSON was born May 3,1937, the second son of Revert and Angeline Robertson in Boligee, Alabama. They, along with his brother Joseph, preceded him in death. He attended Westfield High School in Alabama. Eddie received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Tuskegee Institute (now University). There, he was commissioned as a Second lieutenant in the US Army in May 1959. He later received a Master of Arts degree from West Virginia University and his Education Specialist degree from Tuskegee University. Eddie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Inez H. Blalock Robertson and to this union God blessed them with one angel, Dawn Felicia Robertson. Eddie retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty years of dedicated service. He served as a Qualified Senior Parachutist/Jumpmaster and an Army Ranger. He was honored with several awards, including: Army Commendation Medal (two Oakleaf Clusters and a V device) Bronze Star Legion of Merit Eddies assignments included: Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Washington, DC and St Louis, Missouri. He served as Professor of Military Service and Tactics at West Virginia State University. He also served overseas in Germany, Santo Domingo and Vietnam (Two tours). Eddies second career after military retirement was as an Augusta area educator. He taught at Lake Forest Elementary and Tubman Middle Schools. He served as Assistant Principal at Hephzibah Middle School. He retired again after serving as Principal of Copeland Elementary and East Augusta Middle Schools. Eddie was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he was past President. He was also a member of Sigma Phi Pi (Boule). Eddie served diligently and faithfully as Deacon, Trustee, and Treasurer of First Metropolitan Baptist Church until his health failed him. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Dawn Felicia Robertson, Pooler, Georgia; granddaughter, Alexia Inez Parnell, Pooler, Georgia; sister-indaw, Gloria Blalock, Fort Valley, Georgia; niece, Sylvia (Gary) Robertson'Wilcox, Indianapolis, Indiana; four nephews, Reverend Lawrence (Juliana) Robertson, Gary, Indiana, Rickey (Alethea) Blalock, Virgil (Mara) Blalock; and Kelvin (Gloria) Blalock all of Fort Valley, Georgia; cousins, Barbara Inge and Tasha Herbert; godson, Marc Bowman, Augusta, Georgia; special friends and caregivers, Aeprel Torrence and Rosa Walters; several great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
