John 14: 27 Let not your heart he trou6CecT John 14:1 Mrs. Carrie Rhodes was bom on December 26, 1925 to the late John Freeman Johnson and Annie Hampton in Columbia County, Georgia. She was educated in Augusta, GA and moved to New York City as a teenager. She departed this life on Februaiy 27, 2020. Carrie accepted Christ as her savior at a very young age. She said the first person to tell her about God was her father. She recalled her baptism, which was done in the local stream. One of her aunts came from New York and bought her a beautiful white dress for the ceremony. She attended Greater Zion Baptist Church and Thessa- lonian Baptist Church in Bronx, NY where she served on the usher board and sang in the gospel choir. Carrie also served as a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mt Vernon, and Beulah Grove Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. She was also a member and Sunday School teacher at the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) here in Augusta, GA. Carrie was truly blessed and had an exceptional vocabulary and pen- chant for reading. She was the last surviving member of her siblings John (Red) Johnson, Annie Mae, and Joe Johnson. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She never gave up on love, in which her 3 marriages resulted in her 6 children of which two of her sons David Mims and Robert Ashbourne preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Carolyn (Vincent) Brown, three sons James (Nicole) Ashbourne Sr., Fred (Charlene) Mims, William (Shameka) Ashbourne. Thirty grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. Andre Ashbourne Kareem Ashbourne Calvin Brown Najee Ashbourne Malik Ashbourne James Ashbourne Jr. I Read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning to the end. He noted that first came her date of birth and spoke the following date with tears, 1925-2020. But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; The cars, the house, the cash, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. ~Linda Ellis 3%hnow1fymUtii The Family of the beloved Carrie Rhodes wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation all your expressions of kindness shown through this time of bereavement.
