quietly and peacefully in the Aiken County Hospital following an extended illness. She passed peacefully at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23rd.
She attended the public schools of Edgefield County where she rrade many life long friends. While her life was still young and useful, she accepted Christ and joined the Shaws Creek Baptist Church. She gave of her best while there. In 1928, she united with the Bland Baptist Church. She sang with the Sen ior Choir as long as possible. At the time of her death she was "Mother of the Church." She held this position with spiritual pride and idgnity. In 1911 she was united in holy wedlock to Deacon Joe Raiford. To this union seven chil dren were born. It can truly be said that she was a true wife, a loving mother, a fFiend to those who needed her, and a beacon light by the wayside. She served; she loved; she lived; she grew worn and tired; and she fell asleep. Besides her devoted husband, she is sur vived by--two sons, Mr. Raifield Raiford, Edi son, N.J.; Abraham Raiford, Ridge Spring;
three daughters1 t* Miss R becca Raiford,
Ridge Spring; Mrs. Alma Jennings, Hempstead, N.Y.; Mrs. Rosa Hartley, Aiken; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law, seve ral neices, nephews, relatives and friends.
Tribute Sister, thou was mild and gentle,
Gentle as the summer breeze; Pleasnat as the air of evening,
When it floats among the trees.
