Thompkins ~ Officiating Obituary Mrs. Lucy M. Pearson, daughter of the late Mr. Turner and Fannie Bell Sturgis Stephens, was born August 29, 1918, in Columbia County, Georgia. A t an early age, she was converted, baptized and joined the Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mission Board, Deaconess Board, Piney Grove Spiritual Choir and was the Mother of the Church. She was educated in the Columbia County School System. She was employed with the Richmond County School System for twenty-five years. She was united in marriage to the late Jessie Pearson. To this union four children were born. Her son, Jessie Pearson, Jr., pre ceded her in death. Mrs. Pearson departed this life on Saturday, October 27, 2001, in the University Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Smiley, Mrs. Carolyn Jackson and Mrs. Marilyn McKenzie, all of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Hunt and Mrs. Mar garet Brisbone, both of Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Charlie Stevens of Augusta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
