BETHEL AME CHURCH Albany, Georgia Dr. Claude Ray James, Pastor Obituary For Mrs. Hennic Ruth Owens Parker Retired Educator Hennie Ruth Owens was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina on December 10, 1912. She was the youngest child of Sam and Henretta Guinyard Owens. She departed this life on Monday, May 24, 1999. She received her early education in the Calhoun County Public Schools. She graduated from Allen University High School and attended Allen University where she received a BA Degree in Education. Mrs. Parker taught in the public school systems of Calhoun and Edgefield counties for more than 30 years. She also served as Assistant Librarian in the Calhoun County Public Library. She has also worked as a Medical Office/Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Bethel AME Church, St. Matthews, South Carolina where she assisted the Pastor and members in various duties including being a member of the Missionary Society, and Director of Allen Stars. Hennie married Lee S. Parker and was a devoted wife for forty-six years until his death in 1994. She was the loving mother and mother- in-law of Anthony and Sandra Parker, the proud grandmother of Kimberly, Andrea and Richard Anthony Parker, the sister-in-law of Ewell Parker, Silas Parker, James Parker-Bey, and Josephine Parker, and a dedicated aunt and godmother. She moved to Albany, Georgia in February 1999 to be with her son and family. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, not only her immediate family, but also a family of cousins, former students, neighbors and friends. Hennie Ruth Owens Parker loved her family, her church, and teaching. Let those that she touched touch others.
