C fteoerend C hristopher $ . W a te rs, C a sto r (Jjjlcia tin a Obituary Felton Derrick Neely, Sr., son of the late Clement Julius Neely and Frances Evans Neely, was born July 5, 1955. Derrick departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Following the death of his mother when he was two years old, his childcare was shared by his father, grandmother Nellie Wilson Neely and his aunt, Natalie Neely. His educational training began at the Bethlehem Center Pre-school, and continued at the Immaculate Conception Academy. He attended Lucy C. Laney High, graduating in 1973. After graduation, he entered South Carolina State College where he received the Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Derrick was an athlete and a cap-wearing lover of sports. Seldom did you see him when he wasn't wearing a cap of a team he loved. His early Christian experience began during attendance at the Catholic school. He later joined his family and friends at Thankful Baptist Church. He was employed with the Richmond County School System for many years. Derrick met and married the love of his life, Gayle Gilbert. To this union two sons were born. Derrick was truly a family man who loved and devoted his life to his family. Mourning his loss is his loving, devoted wife, Gayle; his sons, Felton Derrick Jr. and Fredrick Derron. One sister, Lourdes Neely Coleman; one brother, Natovian (Stephanie) Ward; sisters-in-law, Maryland Neely, Iris Wiley, Agnes Brown, Peggy, Sandra, Cathy and Elizabeth Gilbert; brothers-in-law, Tommy Gilbert, Ronnie (Marjorie) Gilbert; devoted nephews, Reginald Neely Jr. and Cameron Gilbert; devoted nieces, Dena Neely, Adrianne Bogans and Monique Smith; a magnitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
